Dear visitors, welcome to the webpages on the Jizerské Hory mountains, a landscape full of contrasts, which for its nature treasures was designated a  Protected Landscape Area in 1968.

The most valuable natural phenomena have been conserved in less accessible places, on steep slopes, on screes, in high-altitude localities, in bogs, in waterlogged meadows and wetlands,  especially beech forests, peat coenosis, mountain pine forest and herbaceous-rich and waterlogged meadows. These localities are mostly protected as small-scale conservation areas (national nature reserves, nature reserves and nature monuments). On the other hand, there are  forests damaged by the effects of air and ground pollution, high winds and insect infestation, changes in forestry composition and intensive exploitation.

Basic data: Area: 368 km2 Location: 50°42´ - 50°56´ N, 15°02´ - 15°23´ E Altitude: 325 m (Raspenava) - 1124 m (Smrk) Designation: Ministry of Culture order (No. 13853/1967) Small-scale protected areas in the PLA:      - 3 National nature reserves      - 13 Nature reserves      - 8 Nature monuments Karlovské bučiny national nature reserve, Čertova zeď national nature monument and Hadí kopec nature reserve (lying outside the PLA) are also administred by the Administration of Jizerské hory PLA.
